Technical Names for Plastic Recycling


PE: Polyethylene

At Sunny Recycling we process a lot of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Some products that contain HDPE are crates, barrels, wheelie bins, pipe, decking, flower pots, etc.

PP: Polypropylene

We can also shred Polypropylene. PP is hard, yets quite flexible, making it perfect for chairs, cases, trays, pipes, etc.

PC Polycarbonate

PC is very strong, yet light weight material with a high impact resistance. The automotive, aircraft, boating and furniture industry can create optically clear products such as headlights, lighting fixtures, shatterproof windows just to name a few.

ABS: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

ABS is a structurally sturdy material suitable for 3D printing, machine or car parts. It can also be found in protective housings such as power tools or cameras.

PVC: Polyvinylchloride

PVC is widely used in the construction industry due to it’s very strong characterisitics. Plasticised Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-P) is normally more flexible, even elastic and used in garden hose, cable sheathing, shoe soles. Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-U) is a tough material used in window and door frames, plumbing pipes and fittings, wall cladding, roof sheeting, garden hose, signage.
